PUBG Bizarre Battle Royale delivers chaotic survival with zombies, Monster Chickens, OP Coins, and wild temporary abilities.
I still remember the first time I dropped into Bizarre Battle Royale. I thought I knew PUBG: loot, rotate, chicken dinner, repeat. Then a giant chicken monster breathed fire in my face while a zombie lobbed explosives at my squad, and I realized this was not your grandma's battle royale. It was a mini apocalypse simulator with a side of poultry-fueled nightmare. The mode originally ran as a limited-time LABS experiment from March 31 to April 10, 2023, and as of 2026 it still stands out as one of the most gloriously unhinged things Krafton ever cooked up. If you missed it, don't sweat it too much—I'm about to walk you through the chaos.

At its core, Bizarre Battle Royale was simple: 8 to 16 bewildered players fighting for survival. But instead of just other players, you also had to deal with a horde of zombies and at least one very angry Monster Chicken. The last team standing won, just like a regular Battle Royale, but the road to that chicken dinner was paved with bites, explosions, and feathered fury. You defeated zombies, Monster Chickens, or players to collect OP Coins. You used OP Coins to purchase OP Items. You used OP Items to become insane at this video game. That was the loop, and I was absolutely here for it.
The OP Coin economy was my favorite part. Do you know what's better than finding spare change in your old pants? Picking up OP coins from freaky zombies, unlucky players, or even clucking chickens. Yup, these bad boys could make you so overpowered that other players would run for the hills when they saw you coming. Just imagine the power trip. It was easy-peasy, too: snatch those Coins, open the Item Shop, and BOOM! You were ready to dominate the Battlegrounds. OP Coins could be accumulated and used in your next Bizarre Battle Royale matches, and the top 3 teams earned more OP Coins at the end of the game. The catch? OP item effects were temporary, so I had to use them wisely—or end up as a zombie snack.

Here is the list of available abilities I could buy, and yes, they were as ridiculous as they sound:
| OP Item | Effect |
|---|---|
| Vitality Serum | Increases Max HP. |
| Speed Steroid | Increases movement speed. |
| Monster Hunter Serum | Increases attack damage against monsters. |
| Man Hunter Serum | Increases attack damage against players. |
| Strength Boosting Steroid | Reduces vertical and horizontal recoil. |
| Potent Painkiller | Grants temporary invulnerability. |
| Sensory Booster | Grants the ability to see players behind obstacles. |
| Foresight Booster | Grants the ability to see enemies on the map. |
Once I had a few of those stacked, I felt like a walking cheat code. The only thing scarier than a squad with Man Hunter Serum was a solo player with Sensory Booster and Potent Painkiller who knew exactly where I was hiding.
Then there were the zombies. It was pretty much the end of the world, and zombies were leading the charge. These fellows were faster, stronger, and more cunning than ever, and they would not stop until they made a meal out of me. They bit, threw things, exploded, and created real madness all around. For those who like to get up close and personal, here are the zombie friends I met:
| Zombie Type |
|---|
| Lab Zombie |
| Brawler Zombie |
| Sprinter Zombie |
| Hulking Zombie |
| Flamebelcher Zombie |
| Boombiter Zombie |
| Munitions Zombie |
| C4 Zombie |

And then there was the Monster Chicken. Ready to get some chicken? Well, this Monster Chicken was ready to get some of me. This feathered fiend was lightning-fast and could jump over obstacles like it was no big deal. It could even breathe fire like a dragon, so I had to come prepared if I did not want to turn into its dinner. If I managed to defeat this monstrosity, I got some pretty overpowered items that surely helped me survive the bizarrity. Extra intel on the feathered fellow: it dropped high-level OP items and a bunch of OP coins. It also dropped the Invulnerability Item, which was the only way to obtain it outside of the item shop. The Monster Chicken could respawn when it felt like it, though there was a pattern. And it hit hard. Like, 'reconsider my life choices' hard.

The original Bizarre Battle Royale event ran during this period:
| Platform | Schedule |
|---|---|
| PC / Console PDT | March 31, 12:00 AM – April 10, 12:00 AM |
| PC / Console CEST | March 31, 9:00 AM – April 10, 9:00 AM |
| PC / Console KST | March 31, 4:00 PM – April 10, 4:00 PM |
There was also a small progression event to enjoy the mode even more. To participate, I entered LABS mode through the main lobby banner. The tasks were simple: play Bizarre Battle Royale 1 time, and play Bizarre Battle Royale 5 times. Rewards were distributed in several batches until April 21. But there were some fine-print rules: LABS games did not provide XP or gameplay rewards, LABS gameplay was not reflected on the Career page, it was not reflected on Match History, LABS gameplay did not support replays, and zombie kills did not count towards BATTLESTAT. So if you were playing just for stats, you were out of luck. If you were playing for pure, unfiltered mayhem, you were in the right place.
In 2026, the original event dates are long gone, and Bizarre Battle Royale is not a permanent mode as far as I know. But that is exactly why I remember it so fondly. It took the familiar Battle Royale loop and threw in OP Coins, temporary god-mode items, a zombie horde, and a fire-breathing chicken that could ruin my whole squad. If Krafton ever brings it back, I will be first in line to grab my weapons, prepare my OP items, and get ready to run and gun. And yes, I will pet the chicken monster on my way out. 🐔🧟💥
